Drop-Off Appointments
The Tressing Room operates as a drop-off home studio.
During your child’s appointment:
- You must remain within approximately a 15-minute driving radius of the studio.
- You must remain reachable by phone at all times.
- If you leave your phone on Do Not Disturb, please allow calls from The Tressing Room.
If your child needs you for any reason, you may be asked to return immediately.
Individualized Accommodations
Every child is unique, and no two children—even those with the same diagnosis—have identical strengths, personalities, communication styles, sensory preferences, or support needs.
For that reason, accommodations at The Tressing Room are based on each child’s individual functional needs, not solely on a medical, developmental, or behavioral diagnosis.
My goal is always to create an environment where every child has the greatest opportunity to feel safe, successful, and confident while preserving the calm, one-on-one experience that The Tressing Room was intentionally designed to provide.
Whenever appropriate, I may adjust my approach to better support your child. Accommodations may include, but are not limited to:
🤎 Additional appointment time
🤎 Slower pacing
🤎 Extra breaks
🤎 Simplified, one-step instructions
🤎 Visual demonstrations
🤎 Additional processing time
🤎 Positive reinforcement and encouragement
🤎 Reduced sensory stimulation whenever reasonably possible
🤎 Comfort items
🤎 Flexible communication strategies
🤎 Individualized transition planning
Because every child is different, accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis after reviewing your intake forms and, when appropriate, discussing your child’s needs with you before the appointment.
Whenever possible, accommodations are designed to help children successfully participate within The Tressing Room’s standard studio model rather than replacing it.
Transition Plans
Some children may benefit from a structured transition into a new environment before beginning their appointment.
When appropriate, a Transition Plan may be offered at the discretion of The Tressing Room.
A Transition Plan allows a parent or legal guardian to:
- Escort their child into the studio.
- Help their child become comfortable in the environment.
- Allow the stylist to begin building rapport and establish the appointment routine.
Once the child has comfortably transitioned into the appointment, parents or guardians will be asked to leave the studio while remaining nearby and available if needed. Parents may continue monitoring the appointment through the Parent Livestream and will be contacted immediately if their assistance becomes necessary.
Transition Plans are intended to support a child’s successful adjustment while preserving the calm, individualized environment that defines The Tressing Room.
Age Exceptions
The Tressing Room generally serves children 6 months through 10 years of age.
Occasionally, exceptions may be considered for older children whose developmental needs make The Tressing Room a more appropriate fit than a traditional salon environment.
Age exceptions are evaluated individually and are based on developmental needs, not chronological age alone.
Approval of one exception does not establish a precedent for future appointments.
My Commitment
Every accommodation decision is guided by one question:
“What will give this child the greatest opportunity to have a safe, successful, and positive experience?”
My commitment is to approach every family with compassion, respect, and an open mind while maintaining the policies that allow me to provide the highest quality care for every child who walks through my door.
Child Comfort & Care
My goal is to create a calm, positive experience that children actually enjoy. Every child is different, so I encourage parents to share anything that will help make their appointment more comfortable.
To help your child have the best experience, please arrive:
- Well-fed.
- In clean, comfortable clothing.
- Wearing a clean diaper or pull-up if applicable.
- With any comfort items they may need (favorite toy, blanket, pacifier, headphones, etc.).
The Tressing Room provides a small selection of comfort items including age-appropriate fidget toys, books, an iPad with child-friendly entertainment, occasional snacks, water, or juice.
These items are offered as a courtesy and may not always be available. Parents should not rely on them being provided during every appointment.
Children with Unique Support Needs
The Tressing Room proudly welcomes children with disabilities and special needs.
Accommodations are considered individually based on each child’s functional needs.
The goal is always to create a safe, positive, and successful experience while preserving the studio environment whenever possible.
Accommodations may include:
• Extra appointment time
• Additional breaks
• Visual demonstrations
• Simplified instructions
• Extra processing time
• Comfort items
• Flexible pacing

Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis.

- Any sensory, developmental, or medical needs related to toileting

However, if the parent has provided prior written authorization in the Client Intake Form, The Tressing Room may perform a diaper change when necessary to protect the child’s health, comfort, or hygiene. Parents must provide all necessary diapering supplies.
This authorization for diaper changes may be changed or revoked at any time before the appointment.
Children who are potty trained are encouraged to use the restroom before arriving.
For younger children or children requiring assistance, parents should explain the level of help their child may need before the appointment.

Parents remain financially responsible for any medical treatment or transportation provided by emergency responders.
Failure to Retrieve a Child
